| The
section between Lenton Chain, Derby Road and Radford Bridge closed in
the 1930's and was filled in. Some remains are visible next to the former Wollaton Hall
gatehouse on Derby Road.
Part of the canal was built over with the houses in Orston Drive, off Middleton Boulevard, and by an extension to the Raleigh Cycle works at 'Raleigh Island'. |

After Radford
Bridge, the canal went North towards Wollaton, running behind Charlbury
Road. Locks 7 - 12 inclusive were filled in the 1950s. By the time these photos were taken all evidence of these locks had been totally destroyed. The next page starts at Lock 13 - the first lock in the long flight up to Wollaton colliery from Woodyard Lane. |
